Introduction There is a wealth of information about drugs and their effects on the web and rather than simply re-hash other people's information we have chosen in this section to provide a short outline about different types of drugs with links to specific pages with more detail. These in turn have links to other websites which, in our opinion, give an accurate informative view of different substances and their effects. Most commonly they are used in social settings such as parties, nightclubs and bars. Many drug users enjoy the social aspect of using stimulants since at low doses they give a sense of self confidence and users often comment that it enhances social interaction by making them more talkative. Made popular in the 1960's by acid or LSD, it also includes magic mushrooms, peyote and datura. AlcoholSince alcoholic drinks legal they are one of the most socially available drugs in New Zealand. The effect is mainly sedative and they tend to produce a drowsy relaxed feeling.
